Will you go to the seaside with me?
We will leave early in the morning, just before sunrise. No worries, it will be warm already, because in the summer the sun does a really good job here.
First we will say hello to the sea. I do not know how about you, but I always talk to it. About dreams and joys. Not about sorrows, because I have a feeling that the sea has enough of them. It definitely prefers to have a little laugh with us. Besides, if you are happy and have a positive attitude towards the world, you can become one of its soul mates. And the soul mates are not only listened, but also blessed with the most wonderful energy in the world.
Then we will take off our shoes and, like children, we will be jumping over the waves, and they will immediately join the funny game. Our loud laughter will be heard on the whole beach, but it will not bother anyone. Other walkers, just like us, will smile widely at the rising sun. They will fully enjoy the sense of cool water sprayed on their feet. We will pass them in silent understanding, looking deep into each other’s eyes and blessing the moment.
We will go further, along the seashore, delighted with all and the stones and shells we will see on our way. We will surely pick up some of them, to watch carefully and fantasize about their life stories. Then we will put these amazing sea creatures back in place, carefully pushing them into the wet sand. We will not take them with us. Their place is here, on the beach. Only here they can be really happy and that is why they will never lose their glimmer.
After some time we will get little tired and we will decide to rest for a while. We will sit exactly on the spot, where the sea meets the land, between two fairy-tale worlds. Then we will let the waves dance on our brown hands. We will be pouring sand between our fingers and rubbing it in our hands and arms, and there will be any deeper meaning of that. We will just be happy. We will smell the well-known fragrance of the sea, and then we will be able to taste some salty drops on our lips. We will be listening to the music made by calm waves, somewhere in the background, above our consciousness. All the smells, flavours, sounds and views will be the same, but completely different than before. But this time we will appreciate them with every single part of our souls.
Then we will have to go further, along the promenade that leads to our favourite harbour town. And we will be passing some runners, people walking with their dogs and joyfully chatting couples. Each of them has his own world, full of desires and internal fights, but in the same time they are so similar and close to us. Actually, there will be not them and us anymore. We will be one. A part of existence that surrounds us. And then we will feel it deeper than ever. And we will know that other people experience the same.
We will be allowed to walk close to each other, talk loudly and fully enjoy our presence, palm trees giving shade and wind guaranteeing moments of a pleasant shadow.
And when we sit at a small cafe table with a cup of cappuccino, we will keep silent, because we will not want to spoil the moment. We will look at the endless sea, which will also remain silent. And only the smell of coffee will be able to remind us that this is a reality …
So will we go?
Soon…

Wonderful narrative, so descriptive. I’m lucky enough to live on the coast, so I look out at the sea every day.

Thank you Gell, for me it is just a few km to the sea, but I cannot go there now… And I really miss it. Luckily we can write, paint and dream. Stay safe

‘I must go down to the sea again,
To the lonely sea and the sky.
And all I ask is a tall ship,
And a star to steer her by’….
One of my favourite poems (and can be sung also)… so I really enjoyed your post today – thank you Magdalena. Take care. Stay safe xx

‘I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.’
I haven’t known it… But I really love it, thank you Janet. And I’m happy that you enjoyed my text.
Take care about yourself, hugs xxx.
